EWE in Key West 2022
Mission Accomplished!
Team EWE Spirit rocked the town of Hemingway, rum, Jimmy Buffet, and Mile 0 this week, raising funds and awareness for the powerful work this young foundation is already doing so successfully. By the numbers, here’s how we made our presence felt in the Key West Half Marathon/5K and the Southernmost Regatta:
· 32 runners
· 12 volunteers
· 24 fundraisers
· 128 individual donors
· 8 age-group podium finishes in the 5K
· 1 age-group podium finish in the half marathon
· 1 men’s masters overall podium finish in the half marathon
· Hundreds of sailors, race committee members, and regatta volunteers, one of whom will receive the first annual EWE Spirit at the Southernmost Regatta award for most living like EWE, as spelled out in the 11 Commandments (more to come on that)
And …
$26,023 raised — AND counting!
An extra big thank you goes out to our top fundraisers: Sue Gearan as our top individual fundraiser and Interlodge, our top team fundraisers.
This was an incredible start to the new year for EWE Spirit. Continuing our precedent of giving back to every local community that supports us, we included a Key West nonprofit in our first grantmaking round of 2022.
The EWE Spirit Foundation granted $10,000 to the Sister Season Fund, a charity dedicated to helping members of the island’s service industry facing bills they cannot cover due to being out of work for illness or other unexpected challenges. Look for more news on this charity and our other recent grantees in our next mailing.
Sharing the EWE Spirit everywhere we go! As Geoff would say, “What’s better than that?”
Thank you, thank you, thank you for making this first EWE Spirit peer-to-peer fundraiser unbelievable!
